Brett Farve

I’m not going to get into the whole issue of whether or not I’m a Brett Farve fan. But this past weekend he had to leave the game vs. the Bills due to a shoulder injury. Now they are saying that he has a sprained right shoulder and is likely to miss this weeks game possibly the rest of the season. If he misses this week it will end his 200 something consecutive starting streak. This is pretty big news for football because he has been a starting QB for 18 some years. That is incredible and it will be interesting to see whether he plays or not.

Packers

Have gotten away from the Packers a little bit so I thought I’d get back to them. It was another tough loss for them this past weekend lossing by once again three points. If only we could have sent the game into overtime maybe we could have come out with a win this time. Even though they are sitting at 7-4 I’m still happy due to all the injuries they have gone through this year. It makes me wonder what there record would be if we had everyone healthy. This week is against the 49ers so hopefully things go better for us.

The new with Auburn’s quarterback Cam Newton is another big topic in sports today. He is being accused of playing at Aurburn becuase of money issues which in college is illegal to do. He also is in the running for winning the Heisman Trophy this year. So it makes you wonder how that dilema will play out. Could he win the award, and have to give it back like Reggie Bush?

New Rules

Being a fan of football it only sparked my interest when I heard all over the news the NFL will be fining and suspending players for vicous hits.  These rules have been installed just this week after last weekends multiple injuries due to concussions from helmet to helmet hits.  Players like James Harrison from the Pittsburgh Steelers was affected so much by the NFL’s change that he contemplated retirement earlier this week.  Many feel that these hitting regulations are taking away from the sports natural intentensity of the game.  Where others side with the safer aspect of it and agree with the league’s new rules.  I find myself on the boarder.  Being a fan of football I enjoy seeing big hits throughout the game.  Also having played the sport and having the knoweldge of how severe concussions can be to the brain I can see why the sport is taking these precautions.  I’m curious as to what everyone else has to say about this.  Do you feel that the fines and suspensions might be too much or are necessary for the sport?

Miners rescued

I first heard about the miners being trapt for nearly 70 days a couple of days ago.  I thought it was shocking news that they had been 1/2 mile underground f0r that long.  I can’t imagine the emotional struggle that they must have endured throughout their ordeal.  Its good to hear that everyone should be saved by tomorrow, and that they got out earlier than what some thought.
